October 17th

Second day moving my micro office.

.

Today I'm a bit late and thus my tour is a bit shorter then planned. My first station is Noritake san's small factory. Noritake is the leader of a neighborhood group and his house is one of the oldest in Mukojima (from around 1920).

.

The photographer Katsuhito Nakazato is having an exhibition there at the moment (also part of the Mukojima Expo).

.

Nakazato carefully rearranged the old workshop space keeping it's unique atmosphere. The old yarn spinning machines became part of the photo exhibition.

.

.

Nakazato's photographs are all taken around Mukojima.

>> In the mukojima networks event in May this year he already had an exhibition, that time in a vacant "Nagaya" (old style Japanese row house). You can visit that exhibition if you >> click here

.

Noritake is surprised about the height of my micro office. I tell him that the second floor is supposed to be my "emergency sleeping room" in case that I miss the last train.

.

He is also surprised about how easy it is to pull my office ...

.

As the street in front of Noritake's factory is really Mukojima style (less then 2 meters wide) I have to move my office to get some work done. I find a nice place in front of the Ichitera Kototoi Shukaijo, one of the other few contemporary architectures beside Hasegawa's building (see Oct. 16). It's a quiet place and I finally find the time to work a bit ...

.

The last station on my office trip today is again the "Shogaigakushu Center" where a symposium on vacant lots and houses is held. While I attend the symposium my office waits for me in front of the entrance ...
